‘Ando Saves:’ Sudbury’s Jesse Rich raises money by making stops as a hockey goalie to help children of late Lincoln-Sudbury athletic trainer – Sports – MetroWest Daily News, Framingham, MA

Now, it’s Jesse’s turn to help by doing the one thing he likes most: making saves.

WESTBOROUGH — Jesse Rich wants to make a lot of saves this year.

That’s because the 12-year-old ice hockey goalie from Sudbury is stopping pucks for a good cause.

From Sept. 15 to Dec. 15, Rich, who plays netminder for two club hockey teams, is asking people to donate money for each save he makes. Those funds will go to the family of former Lincoln-Sudbury athletic trainer, Yoshitaka Ando, who died from esophageal cancer last year, in order to raise enough money to send all four of Ando’s children to college.

“I want to give back to Ando and his family in the same way he gave to my community,” wrote Rich in an online pledge last month.

“(My dad) would appreciate it so much,” said Marcus Ando, one of Ando’s three sons and

The science of toxic online comments – News – Columbia Daily Tribune

Our level of connectedness — thanks to the internet — has created some great opportunities, saved us lots of time, entertained us and improved our lives in countless ways. However, there is a dark side to the internet, which seems to bring out the worst in people.

The worst of the internet comes in the form of online comments and it is getting worse each year. People often comment on a news story and it seems that, no matter what the story is, someone will find a way to connect it to politics, a personal attack or a conspiracy theory — and they will have no problem posting it. Why is there so much anger online?

Anger from within

We have heard it before and it holds true online. People who have been bullied or treated poorly have a much greater chance of turning the anger towards others when they

Dunns grow interest into new business – News – The Daily Reporter – Coldwater, MI

COLDWATER — What started as a small home business has grown over the last two years for Joe Dunn and his wife, Jessie.

Dunn, 51, is in his 19th year as a mechanic for the city of Coldwater. He worked security at gun shows around the region. In Indiana in 2017 “my friend and I saw the need for a niche service that wasn’t being offered. We thought gun enthusiasts would love to have personalized cups, exhibiting their favorite brands.”

He and his wife formed Dunn Outdoorsman Accessories and Custom Laser Works LLC. The couple sells gun accessories, including a kit which converts three types of pistols into a rifle, plus holsters and gun items.

Since Joe works days, she runs the business from their Marshall Street home.

“We started out using vinyl stencils and sandblasting images into tumblers, followed by painting to make them more appealing. He explained “I

Rupert Murdoch’s loss on Tab Media is Digitalbox’s gain as it joins the Daily Mash in the new publisher’s mobile armoury

It could almost be a headline from the Daily Mash: octogenarian billionaire investing millions in youth media is surprised when it ends badly.

But when Rupert Murdoch, 89, pumped the thick end of £4.6 million into Tab Media, an online news magazine for students, that’s exactly what happened.

In just three years since NewsCorp invested, after continually failing to make a profit, Tab Media has been sold for just £750,000.

It is far from alone among digital media companies whose sky high valuations have collapsed. The deflating of the balloon was happening long before Covid 19 came along. But the fall in advertising spend has accelerated their demise.

Another Murdoch investment, Vice, as well as BuzzFeed, Vox and others once heralded as the future of news and journalistic content, have all been humbled.

Among those famous fallers are plenty of smaller enfants terribles of the digital world.

And, as invariably

The New Moon Is In Virgo, & Change Is Brewing

Another month, another celestial happening that’s ready to shake up our lives. On September 17, there will be a new moon (that’s when the moon and sun align in the night sky, completely blocking the moon). And this month’s new moon occurs in Virgo. “With both luminaries in this practical earth sign, we are getting a double dose of can-do energy,” says Narayana Montúfar, senior astrologer at Horoscope.com. That sounds… great. Productive! But, because it’s 2020, there’s an edge. This new moon falls at the beginning of Mars retrograde, Montúfar. “That brings our awareness to the many fires we will have to endure, together as a society, during most of the fall.”New moons are always a time of reflection, and this one will mark a turning point for a few reasons, Montúfar says. For one, it’s connecting with the

Bankroll management is one of, if not the, most important aspects of being a profitable daily fantasy sports player, but few truly understand bankroll management or have the discipline to stick to a plan. One reason is that there is no one-size-fits-all strategy for managing your money.

For anyone unfamiliar with bankroll strategy or planning proper game selection, this guide will help get you started.

Which Games Should You Play?

It’s crucial to understand your odds of winning. The goal is to minimize risk while building upside into the games you play. This is usually accomplished by putting the majority of your action in cash games and a small percentage in tournaments.

S. Korea sees highest daily increase since March

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea has reported 297 new cases of the coronavirus, its biggest daily rise since early March, as the country began restricting gatherings in the greater capital area amid fears that transmissions are getting out of control.

The figures released by South Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday brought the national caseload to 16,058, including 306 deaths. It was the sixth straight day the country reported daily increases in triple digits, with most of the cases coming from the densely populated Seoul metropolitan area, where health workers have struggled to contain transmissions linked to various sources, including churches, restaurants and workers.

Desperate to prevent the outbreak in the capital area from exploding into a nationwide crisis, officials have enforced stronger social distancing restrictions for Seoul and nearby Gyeonggi province and the city of Incheon that prohibit gatherings of more than 50 people
