Woman’s simple error snowballs into late payments

Most of us pay our bills online these days, especially during the pandemic, where we want to limit trips to the post office.

It’s quick and convenient, but also very easy to make a costly mistake, as one woman learned.

Leslie Hoctor made a little error the other day, while online banking at her home in Cincinnati’s Mt. Washington neighborhood. Only problem: it turned out not to be a little error.

“I was paying bills on my banking website and I made a pretty big ‘fat finger’ mistake,” she said.

Like most of us with online banking, Hoctor’s bank website lists all the companies she pays every month, from her cell phone to her satellite dish provider, to her gas and electric company, Duke Energy.

It works perfectly, until you accidentally pay the wrong one.

“I was just trying to pay the mortgage and I hit the wrong vendor from

‘Ando Saves:’ Sudbury’s Jesse Rich raises money by making stops as a hockey goalie to help children of late Lincoln-Sudbury athletic trainer – Sports – MetroWest Daily News, Framingham, MA

Now, it’s Jesse’s turn to help by doing the one thing he likes most: making saves.

WESTBOROUGH — Jesse Rich wants to make a lot of saves this year.

That’s because the 12-year-old ice hockey goalie from Sudbury is stopping pucks for a good cause.

From Sept. 15 to Dec. 15, Rich, who plays netminder for two club hockey teams, is asking people to donate money for each save he makes. Those funds will go to the family of former Lincoln-Sudbury athletic trainer, Yoshitaka Ando, who died from esophageal cancer last year, in order to raise enough money to send all four of Ando’s children to college.

“I want to give back to Ando and his family in the same way he gave to my community,” wrote Rich in an online pledge last month.

“(My dad) would appreciate it so much,” said Marcus Ando, one of Ando’s three sons and

Joe Biden battles being chronically late

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Joe Biden was running late. Again.

On a recent Friday, he’d already apologized for the delayed start to a speech, then taken more questions than expected at a subsequent press conference. When it was finally over, Biden’s motorcade sped away quickly enough to leave behind one of the journalists traveling with it.

But as the line of armored, black SUVs reached Biden’s home in suburban Wilmington, it suddenly reversed course and headed back out — this time to a nearby M&T bank branch. Biden’s next event was already supposed to be underway, a virtual fundraiser with National Democratic Finance Chair Chris Korge. Instead, he lingered at an ATM.

The former vice president later told the donors gathered online that he was sorry to have been waylaid by a “significant press conference.” He omitted the stop to withdraw pocket money.

With their packed schedules, relish for meeting

Amanda Kloots Says Picking Up Late Husband Nick Cordero’s Ashes Was ‘Beyond Surreal and Horrible’

Amanda Kloots is opening up about the difficult experience of picking up husband Nick Cordero’s ashes.

In an emotional update on Saturday, the fitness instructor — whose husband died at the age of 41 last month from coronavirus complications — spoke about how the past few weeks have been “really hard” for her.

“I’ve literally felt like I can’t even function. Where I’m just kind of in a fog and I don’t even know what I’m doing or what I’m saying,” she said. “Thank God for my brother and sister-in-law because they’ve rescued me and [1-year-old son] Elvis a lot.”

Kloots went on to share that she had recently picked up her late husband’s ashes.

“It was beyond surreal and horrible. But they’re in my possession and a good friend of mine said some beautiful advice: look at it as you have him with you now,” Kloots said. “Which is

Zach Braff Honors His Late Friend Nick Cordero with a Touching Tattoo Tribute

Zach Braff is honoring his late friend Nick Cordero in a special way.

The 45-year-old actor got a sketch of the late Broadway star inked on his arm, one month after he died following a months-long battle with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The tattoo artwork features a drawing of Cordero dancing in a three-piece suit — similar to one he wore when he starred in the Broadway musical Bullets over Broadway with Braff back in 2014. The actor’s new body art was shared in a black-and-white Instagram post by Los Angeles based tattoo artist Dr. Woo.

“In loving memory to the greatest 🌟 @nickcordero1 on his friend @zachbraff 🙏🏼❤️,” Woo wrote alongside the shot of Braff’s arm, which showed the Coredo tattoo underneath a larger image of a hummingbird.

Braff also shared the same black-and-white image of his arm on his Instagram Story.

Cordero’s widow, Amanda Kloots, later commented on

What Happens If You File Your Taxes Late?

Filing your taxes is an unpleasant activity for almost everyone, even when you’re getting a refund — just seeing terms like “withholdings” and “qualified dividends” tends to have a mind-numbing effect. Fortunately, there are a lot of affordable online tools to help you file your taxes with minimal headaches. And this year, we had more time to take care of our taxes than usual, with the typical April 15th filing and payment deadline being pushed to July 15th in response to COVID-19.

But now, suddenly, July 15th is just a day away. If you need to file a last-minute tax extension request, you can still do that and give yourself until October 15th to file. If you owe taxes, though, you’ll need to pay an estimate of what you owe by tomorrow. The easiest, most accurate way to calculate that may simply be filing your taxes.

With the tax deadline
